Our Geothermal services start with Site Visits and Surveys and take you through to completion:
SiteVisit & Survey:
Once you have decided to use Global Energy on you project then we will arrange for a site visit with our director or lead driller to check the access of the site and the water supply in the area, we will then arrange Dig Line survey so that we can assess the ground before drilling.
Drilling
Boreholes can be drilled to various depths dependant on the ground strata. The depth and distance apart of the boreholes is decided by the client and engineers before drilling commences. We have a fleet of ’state of the art’ drilling rigs that are capable of drilling boreholes 100 meters plus. Our investment in this latest drilling technology allows us to provide you with the cleanest and fastest drilling service available in the USA. We can drill with air, air mist or water flush which ever suits the conditions. We have machines that we can use on limited access projects.
You can be assured should any difficulties arise, or you have a large project that needs expert knowledge of all drilling methods, and then Global Energy is the team you need.
Installations:
Once the boreholes are drilled to the required depth then the geothermal loops are installed. We install copper line sets with guide wheel to ensure a straight line delivery. The Super Grout is then mixed specifically by our drillers in our own hydraulic powered or air powered grout mixers, this ensures that the grout is mixed to a correct consistency. The borehole is then grouted from the base upwards using a pump and high pressure hose method, lifting out any debris or water with it. The grout then seals the drift and fills deposits therefore sealing the borehole and preventing contamination of the borehole. The Super Grout acts as a conductor between the earth’s heat and the fluid in the line set for superior exchange.
Pressure Testing:
All of the copper line sets comepre-pressurized to 300 psi before they are even put in to the ground, then after installation into the earth and necessary welding is done we re-pressure test all copper line sets to 300 psi of Nitrogen for 24-48 hrs to ensure a leak free installation.
Finished Borehole:
When we are done with the drilling and welding of the line set we will backfill sand around manifold and completely fill the hole.
Sonic Drilling – Faster & More Efficient
In certain conditions, such as boulder or gravel earth, Sonic Drilling can succeed where other conventional technologies can struggle. The results of using Sonic Drilling on your project are significant:
- Faster drilling
- Less mess
- Wider range of ground can be drilled
- Low Impact
- Cleaner Hole and Install
As a result of these amazing attributes, sonic drilling can be employed in many applications including geo-technical and geothermal projects, environmental investigations and mineral exploration.
About Sonic Drilling
A sonic drill is more precisely identified as a rotary vibratory drill. It is capable of high drilling speeds as well as tasks such as continuous coring that cannot be undertaken with conventional machines. A sonic machine looks very much like any other conventional air or mud rotary drilling rig, the only big difference is the drill head, it is slightly larger than a standard head. The head contains the mechanism necessary for rotary motion as well as an oscillator, which causes ahigh frequency force to be super imposed on the drill string.
The drill bit vibrates up and down in addition to being pushed down and rotated. These three forces combined allow drilling to proceed rapidly through most geological formations even most types of rock.
The soil particles that come into contact with the drilling rods are fluidized reducing friction and allowing rapid penetration. The fluidization only occurs within a few millimeters of the drilling tools; therefore this does not distort any samples that need to be taken. Core recovery is virtually 100% as there is no flush medium, the core is not contaminated by drilling activities, and this is why our machine can be widely used on Environmental projects.
